Reda Abdel Qader, head of the Egyptian Tax Authority, stated that 18 companies that were not committed to joining the electronic invoice system from the fifth stage were referred to the prosecution. This is in accordance with the text of Article (72) of the Unified Tax Procedures Law No. 206 of 2020, stressing the continuation of taking all legal measures against non-compliant companies, Pointing out that the obligatory date for the fifth phase of the electronic invoice system began on December 15, 2021.
Abdul Qader said that the 18 companies that were referred to the prosecution are 8 companies registered in the Senior Financiers Center for which a decision was issued to join the fifth phase of the system and did not commit to participating. And 10 companies registered with the Joint Stock Companies Mission in Cairo, for which a decision was issued to join the fifth phase of the system. and did not commit to participate, Pointing out that before the decision to refer to the prosecution was made, they were contacted and several correspondences were sent to these companies to alert and warn that legal measures be taken, and when those companies do not respond, they are transferred to the prosecution Stressing that the authority will continue to take procedures for transferring to the prosecution against companies that do not commit to joining the electronic invoice system, respectively.
Abdul Qader stressed that in accordance with the provisions of Article 35 of the Unified Tax Procedures Law, companies and other legal persons are obligated to register their sales and purchases on the electronic system. As well as Article (37) of the same law, which stipulates that every financier or taxpayer is obligated to issue a tax invoice or receipt in electronic form.
The ” head of the Egyptian Tax Authority ” called on the companies obligated to join the electronic invoice system to quickly take the necessary measures to join the system in order to avoid taking legal measures against them .
Facilities to join the electronic billing system
The Head of the Tax Authority stressed that the Ministry of Finance and the Tax Authority provide all facilities and support to companies for the mandatory joining of the electronic invoice system, whether through the technical support office at the Senior Taxpayers Center or field visits.
