The latest report received by Minister of Trade and Industry Nevin Gamea on the performance indicators of the General Authority for Export and Import Control during the first half of this year (January – June) revealed that the authority received 46,904 messages, including 31,548 industrial messages and 15,356 non-industrial messages.
Engineer Essam Al-Nagar, head of the General Organization for Export and Import Control, said that the number of accepted industrial letters reached 29,844, while the number of rejected industrial letters reached 1,704. He pointed out that the number of non-industrial messages accepted amounted to 14,943 messages, while the number of non-industrial messages rejected reached 413.
Al-Nagar indicated that the authority’s laboratories examined 105,685 messages during the reporting period, including 7,767 food samples, 45,616 chemical samples, 47,161 industrial samples, and 5,141 contract samples.
He pointed out that in accordance with the assignments of the Minister of Trade and Industry to the authority to issue certificates of free sale of exported products, the authority has issued 14 certificates to Egyptian companies exporting to Tunisia, Morocco, Kuwait and Algeria. He pointed out that the authority issued during the reporting period 189,978 certificates of origin in accordance with the protocols of rules of origin applied in free and preferential trade agreements signed between Egypt and a number of countries and major economic blocs in the world in order to apply exemptions and customs benefits for Egyptian exports.
With regard to commercial registrations, The head of the Export and Import Control Authority pointed out that 12,974 new registration, renewal and addition records were extracted. It included 3,566 importers’ records, 3,497 exporters’ records, 871 commercial agents’ and foreign offices’ records, 3,934 production requirements records, 787 real estate brokerage records, and 319 advertising records.
Customer and Citizen Service
On serving citizens and customers, Al-Nagar continued that the authority received 24,000 calls and responded to 240 inquiries on the Ask service, and we answer was received on the authority’s website, which has exceeded 151,000 visitors In addition, 15 thousand and 168 reports were issued to serve the customers and decision makers. He pointed out that the authority established a unit to facilitate the work of exporters to overcome the obstacles facing exporters, as part of the authority’s efforts to support the presidential initiative to reach $100 billion in exports.
Training and issuance of export practice certificates
Al-Nagar noted that the authority’s training center has trained 1,033 trainees in the fields of export and import practice and laboratory testing of exported and imported goods at the authority’s laboratories and ISO programs. He pointed out that, during the reporting period, the new laboratory building was opened at Dekheila port, and two cooperation protocols were signed with the Industry Council for Technology and Innovation and the Chamber of Chemical Industries.
He added that accreditation is extended to the unit for issuing certificates of conformity for products to include biodegradable plastic, electric battery products, detergents, paper and cardboard, in accordance with the Saudi technical regulations, as the unit is registered with the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization and listed on the Saber platform as a conformity assessment body acceptable to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
