Dr. Mohamed Maait, Minister of Finance, reviewed the efforts made by customs officials to overcome obstacles and facilitate customs procedures for the business community. In a manner that contributes to improving the performance of work in customs administrations, and reducing the time of customs release, in a way that helps meet the needs of the local market. The Minister received a report from Shahat Ghatouri, Head of the Customs Authority, in which he indicated that the Central Administration of Alexandria Customs, headed by Ahmed El Qaranshawy, had released Approximately 11,085 customs certificates were issued last May for strategic goods, production requirements, and general merchandise, including: “threads, textiles, electrical appliances, receivers, plastics, petroleum products, cars and spare parts.”
The report added that the taxes and customs fees collected on the import certificates at Alexandria Customs during the month of May amounted to one billion and 625 million and 292 thousand pounds. While the value-added taxes amounted to 2,178 million and 912 thousand pounds, Other fees collected from these certificates amounted about one billion and 934 million and 898 thousand pounds.
The report indicated that the General Administration of Exports at Alexandria Customs, Last May, it exported 6,499 covered customs declarations under various export systems, with a value of 11 billion, 126 million and 335 thousand pounds. For various types of goods and general merchandise such as «Natural sands, juices, cosmetic, and poultry feed.” A fee of 809 thousand pounds was collected from some exported customs declarations.
The report indicated that the total taxes, customs fees, taxes and other fees collected at Alexandria customs last May amounted about 5 billion and 749 million pounds.
