The Suez Canal Economic Zone announced in a statement issued today that the ports of East and West Port Said and Al-Arish in the northern region recorded ship traffic during last November, with a total tonnage of 3,682,798 tons as realized capacity. The number of containers reached 334,463 TEUs, through the reception of 218 various vessels during the month.
The statement stated that the West Port Said port of the economic zone received 42 container ships with a capacity of 326,881 tons and the number of containers 36,257 equivalent containers. for receiving 33 multi-purpose locomotives during the same month,
Last November, East Port Said Port received 106 container ships, 6 clinker ships, 5 salt ships, and a cement ship, with a capacity of 3,338,317 tons, and 298,206 TEU containers.
Al-Arish sea port received 4 ships for exporting bulk goods to foreign markets with a capacity of 17,600 tons. It is expected that exports of bulk goods will increase in the coming period after the development process that Al-Arish port is currently witnessing.
As for the port of Sokhna, it witnessed the circulation of general goods amounting to 382.29 tons, the movement of dry bulk goods with a tonnage of 359348.92 tons, liquid bulk with a total of 317553.05 tons, and the volume of container handling amounted to 567813 tons, bringing the total tonnage handled in the port during November to 1245097.25 tons, with a total number of 38 vessels. As for the port of Adabiya, the total handled cargo amounted to 457,151.76 tons. The container handling rate reached 8,222 TEUs, with a total number of ships reaching 27 ships.
The authority is always working on developing its ports in order to accommodate new generations of giant ships and to attract international shipping lines, thus maximizing revenues and attracting various investments to the economic zone and its ports.
