The resolution stipulated that the council’s work term would be 3 years from the date of its publication in the Egyptian Gazette, and ensured that the head of the Egyptian side would submit a semi-annual periodic report on the council’s efforts and activities to the Minister of Trade and Industry, including the council’s activity, suggestions and future plans for the development of common interests between the two countries, And that the concerned Egyptian authorities and Egyptian embassies abroad, as well as commercial offices, assist the Council in carrying out its tasks and facilitate the exercise of its functions and provide it with the data or information it requests related to its activities.
29% increase in the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Spain during the past year
Gamea explained that the restructuring of the Egyptian side in the Egyptian-Spanish Business Council comes within the framework of the strong economic relations linking the two countries, which will increase in strength by activating the role of the Business Council, as the volume of trade exchange between the two countries increased during 2021 to $2.851 billion, compared to $2.11 billion during the previous year. In 2020, an increase of 29%, Pointing out that the new formation of the Egyptian side of the council includes a large group of cadres and expertise in the fields of economic cooperation between Egypt and Spain.
The minister pointed out that the last stage witnessed high-level visits between the two sides, as the Spanish Prime Minister visited Egypt last December and met with His Excellency President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi. The Egyptian-Spanish Business Forum was also held in the presence of the prime ministers of the two countries, in addition to the active participation of the Egyptian and Spanish business community. She pointed out that these visits reflect the keenness of officials in the two countries to achieve a qualitative leap in the level of joint economic relations, which will reflect positively on increasing the rates of trade exchange and joint investments.
