Pilot Mohamed Manar, Minister of Civil Aviation, toured El Alamein International Airport, as part of preparations to receive the airport for domestic and international flights during the coming period.
Pilot Mohamed Manar pointed out that El Alamein Airport is one of the important tourist airports that support the Egyptian state’s plan to develop the northwestern coast of Egypt, as it serves the new city of El Alamein and the North Coast region and will contribute to revitalizing air and tourism traffic to Egypt, stressing that the political leadership attaches great importance to developing The airport is to be integrated with the comprehensive development plan and to attract more local and foreign investments to the new Al Alamein area, which is one of the major development projects that the Egyptian state is currently witnessing.
During his tour, the Minister of Aviation inspected the international and domestic travel and arrival halls, passport counters, baggage belts, and the airstrip, and ensured that security and preventive measures were applied to preserve the safety of passengers and workers.
It is worth noting that El Alamein Airport is witnessing development work, including increasing its capacity to 400 passengers per hour. The air field is also currently being developed to accommodate 45 aircraft, and the expansion of the current corridor has been completed to accommodate large aircraft, the construction of a new corridor 4 kilometers long and 45 meters wide, lighting the corridors with a new system and linking them to the air control tower. The construction of a merchandise village, a ground services station, a fuel supply with a capacity of 3 million cubic meters, and an electricity station is underway. The airport park currently accommodates 400 cars and 150 buses.
