The Russian Finance Minister announced that his country expects to achieve an additional trillion rubles in oil and gas revenues this year, He added that part of the extraordinary gains will be spent on the military operation in Ukraine.
“We expect to generate up to 1 trillion rubles ($14.4 billion) in additional oil and gas revenues,” Minister Anton Siluanov said in comments broadcast on state television. According to the expectations that we set with the Ministry of Economic Development.
Siluanov added that the government plans to spend the additional revenue this year instead of saving it.
The Russian minister stressed that the money will be spent on “additional payments” to pensioners, families with children and the “special operation” in Ukraine. Referring to Moscow’s attack on the pro-Western country, he stressed that “there are resources for that.”
Russian President Vladimir Putin recently played down the impact of the sanctions. He said Europe’s “chaotic behavior” had increased Russia’s oil and gas revenues.
