The Minister, Commercial Plenipotentiary, Yahya Al-Wathiq Billah, Head of the Commercial Representation Authority, announced that the efforts of the Egyptian Commercial Office in Berlin contributed to the Egyptian companies participating in the twenty-ninth session of the Fruit Logistica Exhibition in the German capital, Berlin, during the period from 5-7 April 2022, by concluding export contracts worth 30 million. Euro, where 23 Egyptian companies participated in the exhibition, including companies producing various agricultural crops. Of these, 12 companies participated through the Egyptian pavilion, which was built on an area of 221 square meters. While 11 companies participated individually.
Al-Wathiq Billah explained that the Egyptian Commercial Office in the German capital Berlin also held an expanded meeting with the Board of Directors of the Federation of Industries of the German state of Dusseldorf, in the presence of representatives of the Federation of Manufacturers of Metal and Electronic Products. and a major German engineering company in Dusseldorf, During the meeting, it was agreed with officials of the state’s Ministry of Economy to develop an executive plan of action for the state with Egypt, which includes the establishment of joint activities in Dusseldorf and Cairo under the name of the “Annual Economic Forum Egypt / North Rhine-Westphalia”.
In this context, Minister Plenipotentiary Trade Abdel Aziz Al Sharif, Head of the Egyptian Commercial Office in Berlin, indicated that the Fruit Logistica exhibition has been held annually since 1993 and is considered the most important exhibition ever in the field of agricultural crops, not only at the level of the German market, but also at the world level. Where the exhibition includes fresh vegetables and fruits, dried fruits and nuts, packaging technology, transportation, logistics, warehousing, farming systems, and the latest technologies in the agricultural and greenhouse fields, Pointing out that this edition of the exhibition witnessed a strong participation of 2,000 exhibiting companies from about 87 countries, More than 40,000 visitors from all over the world visited the exhibition.
He explained that in preparation for the Egyptian participation in the exhibition, the Egyptian Commercial Office in Berlin coordinated with the commercial representation offices in the European Union countries to promote the Egyptian participation in the exhibition. Preparing the source’s guide to the German market, including all the data that allows the Egyptian exporter to get acquainted with the market initially, and a marketing study on the market of fresh vegetables and fruits in Germany, including data on German production, consumption, imports and exports, as well as the most important products exported from Egypt, in addition to contact data for the most important importing companies For fresh vegetables and fruits in the German market, Pointing out that the commercial representation office in Berlin held a number of bilateral meetings on the sidelines of the exhibition, including a meeting with representatives of the agricultural file at Bayern, The meeting dealt with the possibilities of joint cooperation between Egypt and Germany to develop the agricultural sector in Egypt through a proposal for the company to transfer technology to reduce the amount of water used to grow crops. As well as a meeting with the officials of the German wholesale market “Berliner Grossmarket”, The meeting dealt with the possibilities of joint cooperation between Egyptian companies and the wholesale market in order to allocate spaces for the products of Egyptian companies.
And about the meeting with the Federation of Industries of the German state of Dusseldorf, Al-Sharif indicated that it was agreed to hold a virtual meeting that includes the commercial office and officials of the state’s Ministry of Economy. And officials of the State Promotion Agency of the state government, which is responsible for developing and implementing plans for economic promotion of state-affiliated companies with the countries of the world, with the aim of setting the general framework for a joint implementation plan with Egypt, Pointing out that German companies praised the economic developments currently taking place in Egypt, especially in the fields of energy, infrastructure and digital transformation, in addition to the projects of the economic zone of the Suez Canal.
