Nevin Jameh, Minister of Trade and Industry, confirmed that the ministry is working during the current stage to expand the establishment of industrial complexes and take advantage of all industrial capabilities and ingredients in the national economy with the aim of deepening and localizing local manufacturing and providing decent and productive job opportunities for young people in addition to replacing imports and providing the needs of the local market with high quality national products And conform to local and international specifications.
In this context, the minister clarified that the ministry, represented by the Industrial Development Authority, granted 3,904 building and operating licenses during the first quarter of this year, including 204 building licenses and 3,700 operating licenses. and 1,737 permanent and fixed-term industrial records were granted , which included 1,285 permanent industrial records and 452 fixed-term industrial records, The authority also conducted 1,589 studies, including 840 studies in the field of customs reductions and 749 in the field of developing local products.
Jameh indicated that during the first quarter of this year, the authority issued 717 environmental approvals. 66 customs release letters and 59 letters specifying the annual needs of dangerous chemicals, in addition to conducting 192 technical studies of the tender requests, which included 83 studies related to lands and 109 studies related to industrial complexes, as well as conducting 1,807 technical inspections.
For his part, Major General Mohamed Al-Zalat, head of the Industrial Development Authority, explained that the positive indicators achieved by the authority during the first quarter of this year are the culmination of the great efforts undertaken by the authority to serve the industrial sector within the framework of the comprehensive plan of the Ministry of Trade and Industry aimed at improving the competitiveness of the Egyptian industry and restoring its position. On the global industry map, especially in light of the great industrial capabilities that Egypt enjoys.
