The Government of Japan announced the award of the Medal of Honor (Rising Sun – Gold and Silver Star,) For the Chairman of the Egyptian-Japanese Business Council, Eng. Ibrahim El-Araby, Egypt’s former ambassador to Japan, Hisham Badr.
The Embassy of Japan in Cairo explained – in a statement, that this honor comes due to the outstanding contributions made by Engineer Ibrahim El-Araby and Ambassador Hisham Badr in strengthening bilateral relations between Japan and Egypt and consolidating friendship and goodwill relations between the two countries. The history of this medal goes back nearly 150 years. It is a high-ranking decoration granted by His Majesty the Emperor of Japan to those who have made outstanding achievements within Japan and the international community.
She pointed out that El-Araby, in his capacity as president of the General Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce, contributed. It is the highest organization that supervises the chambers of commerce in Egypt. Also in his capacity as Chairman of the Egyptian-Japanese Business Council, In the continuous development of trade relations between the two countries through holding a series of joint meetings with the corresponding Japanese organization, And by providing opportunities for exchange between Japanese and Egyptian business circles.
Elaraby also contributed in his capacity as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Elaraby Group, One of the leading manufacturers of household electrical appliances in Egypt, In developing economic relations between Japan and Egypt over many years through support and alliances with Japanese companies in the company’s home appliances production business.
The embassy pointed out that Ambassador Hisham Badr, He worked as a diplomat in Japan twice, Where he worked for the second time as the Egyptian ambassador to Japan between 2003 and 2007, where he had a remarkable activity in various fields, including politics, economics and culture, By benefiting from his fluency in Japanese, he also published Some books in Japanese language .
This remarkable activity of the Ambassador resulted in enhancing mutual understanding between the two countries. And so with the Middle East as a whole, And he remained until his retirement from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in November of last year, A partner and a good understanding of Japan in the front lines of Egyptian diplomacy.
